Sandhigata Vata is the commonest form of articular disorder. It is a type of Vatavyadhi which mainly occurs in Vriddhavastha due to Dhatukshaya, which limits everyday activities such as walking, dressing, bathing etc. thus making patient disabled / handicapped.
Recommended diet for Vata dosha Cooked vegetables are best. Raw vegetables should be minimized. Asparagus, beets, squash, and carrots are highly recommended. Other vegetables may be taken in moderation if cooked in extra virgin olive oil, including peas, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and sweet potatoes.
For people with vata dosha the problem generally is that of underweight rather than overweight. They cannot properly absorb nutrients. However, they can become overweight when imbalanced if they attempt to eat sweet, oily foods in an attempt to calm their vata imbalance.May 30, 2015
Dietary recommendations for vata-dominant people
- Eat 3 to 4 small meals daily, at least 2 hours apart.
- Incorporate lots of cooked vegetables.
- Avoid nightshade vegetables, such as eggplants, peppers, tomatoes.
- Eat juicy, sweet fruits and avoid astringent fruits like cranberries and raw apples.
- Limit legumes.
