Hiphopduon MEDINA firade stora framgångar på 00-talet. Efter 13 år tillsammans lade de ner, men nu gör de, fem år senare, comeback. It’s the 2nd holiest city in Islam and I always assumed that it was off-limits to non-Muslims (similar to Mecca) — but I was wrong! Anybody is allowed to visit Medina (even Jews!), they just can’t venture inside the gates of the Prophet’s Mosque. I went to Medina with my local friend, Abdullah, the same guy who took me on a virtual tour of Mecca. And I really enjoyed my time in the city. There is this overwhelming spirit in the air, something similar to Jerusalem or Varanasi, and it’s something I will never forget! Have you ever been to Medina? Its striking Green Dome rises above the tombs of the Prophet Muhammad and early Islamic leaders Abu Bakr and Umar. The Masjid al-Qiblatain (Qiblatain Mosque) is known as the site where the Prophet Muhammad received the command to change the direction of prayer to Mecca.

Having been told by various sources it was okay for me to roam around the city (but avoid entering the Prophet's Mosque), I decided to take the opportunity to explore. Traditionally, non Muslims have been forbidden from entering Mecca (and this is still the case) but for Medina there is no such enforcement of this rule, and all visitors are welcomed.
